Her work permit application was rejected. She was deeply upset and demoralised. Her dream is to be with her husband in Singapore. If she applies for the student pass it will cost her $8000 for school fee and $500 for rent and travel. She can't even think about the food. I told her to save for 6 months. God bless our plan!

Work Permit extension
We have got the news about my work permit extension and further leave to remain from the solicitors. I couldn't feel relieved but nearly got heart attack because of their invoice. For a mere form filling, a few emails and 2 letters I was charged nearly £900, excluding the visa fee. I think it is a rip-off. Ignorant people like us spend a fortune to carry out official matters and that's what we get. Lesson learnt: be independent and confident! I still haven't got my papers yet from them but I was gutted by the way they overcharge people recklessly.

Friends
Friends play a big part in our lives. It is more and more difficult to meet new friends as we grow older. That's why I am trying my best to keep in touch with my friends. A friend informed me of her depression and discouragement regarding her work permit. I wish God can grant all her wishes soon because it is very hard to live apart from your family and friends. When I think of whom to call in case of emergency there aren't many people around. We don't feel close enough to pick up the phone and talk to each other although we may go out or see each other often. I miss my childhood friends. Those were the days when we all sat around and laughed for no reason. May God bless all my friends!

Liberating Thoughts
It's quite liberating not having to worry about the money, status, possession and authority. Life gets so much easier and enjoyable without them. This is my personal experience and my own opinion. I feel happy when I know that I am sharing my blessings with other people. I wonder if I can have the same generosity if I were a millionaire!

Learning English
I started learning the alphabet in 4th standard. 6 years later, our English text book was Wuthring Heights by Emily Bronte. I picked up the pronunciation from wherever I could and never got round to learn the phonetics. I know that people have different accents. However, at least I want other people to understand what I am talking about and therefore I want to pronounce the words correctly, at least in English accents.

Starbucks
Here is where I have my English lessons. I am not a keen coffee drinker but the atmosphere makes me feel good. If I am hungry I also have a piece of cake with my coffee. I know a few people who are Starbucks' die-hard fans but I am not. You can't be that serious for a cup of coffee. Surely, coffee can't be that different, high and low calories?
